 Foxes Lair August Highlights

August marks the start of peak wildflower season with many different types and colours of wildflower on all walks.
• Orchid numbers increase in August, with greenhood orchids in full flower being joined by little pink fairy, little pink fairy/cowslip hybrids, donkey, primrose Spider, llubbed Spider and tiny  sugar orchids.
Some species are only found in 1 or 2 spots, so check numbers on the map below for locations.
• The western part of the Banksia Walk has a wonderful show of dryandras.
• The Valley walk is good for greenhood and litle pink fairy orchids.
• In early August look for beautiful pink Frasers dryandra flowers on red soil on the Claypit Walk near the Claypit, and try the Claypit Challenge
• The Granite Walk winds through green growth, granite boulders and rock ferns. Look for bullets at the rifle range bank
• See dewy spider webs on misty mornings and local roos

For wildflowers at this time download the booklet below. Flowering can vary according to season so check July or September if the orchids shown are absent.
