Ecotourist Highlights In April and May

Frequent warm still autumn days are excellent for walking, having picnics and looking for birds and native animals. A few plants are beginning to flower, so look carefully. As a guide download the Flowers of Foxes Lair April-May version. 
The tiny Common Bunny Orchid (Foxes Lair), and Hare Orchid (Highbury Walk) may be found in late April/May after summer/autumn rain.
• If you are staying in Narrogin, consider an evening or early morning walk on one of the five walk trails to enjoy the bush and birds, and get a glimpse of local kangaroos
• Try the new Three Mesas walk at Candy Block and see the giant grass tree
• It is good time to see endangered marsupials Barna Mia Nocturnal Animal Sanctuary tours: Friday, and Saturday (except for public holidays
• There are several good bush picnic spots at this time of the year
• Go on a numbat, echidna and bird spotting drive through Dryandra Woodland.  ( get a guide from Dryandra Country Visitor Centre)
• Consider a an evening or morning climb to see the sunrise/ sunset from Yilliminning Rock

• Go for a picnic to Toolibin Lake to  see waterbirds, learn about the lake and see Woolly Banksias at Toolibin Cemetery. You could go via Albert Facey House in Wickepin.
