Polypore, Bracket and Leather Fungi - mostly found on wood or trees
Polypores and bracket fungi have pores instead of gills but are usually tough or woody and are almost always found on wood or living trees. They may have stems or be attached directly to wood. The latter group are sometimes called bracket or shelf fungi.
Leather fungi have relatively thin structures a bit like leather; their under-surface is smooth. They may have stems or may form fans with broad attachments. They are also found on wood.
