Foxes Lair August Highlights
August marks the start of the wildflower season with many different types and colours of wildflower on all walks.
• Orchid numbers increase in August, with Greenhood Orchids in full flower being joined by Little Pink Fairy, little pink fairy/cowslip hybrids, Donkey, Primrose Spider, Clubbed Spider and tiny Sugar orchids.
Some species are only found in 1 or 2 spots, so check numbers on the map below for locations.
• The western part of the Banksia Trail has a wonderful show of dryandras.
• The Valley Loop is good for Greenhood and Little Pink Fairy orchids.
. Try the Claypit Challenge
• The Granite Walk winds through green growth, granite boulders and rock ferns. Look for bullets at the rifle range bank
• See dewy spider webs on misty mornings and local roos.
• Enjoy the wildflowers on a leisurely ride on cycle trails. Take care as these trails are also for walkers.

• If the weather is fine see endangered marsupials at Barna Mia Nocturnal Animal Sanctuary : Friday, and Saturday (except for public holidays
• There are a number of great spots, which are approaching their best in late August. Scroll down these pages for great family, wildflower, and wildlife spots
• For a bracing walk climb Yilliminning Rock, have a BBQ picnic, see the Brockway Tree and lots of wildflowers.
• Go on a numbat, echidna and bird spotting drive through Dryandra Woodland National Park.
• If there is water in Toolibin Lake go for a picnic, see waterbirds, learn about the lake and see Woolly Banksias at Toolibin Cemetery. You could go via Albert Facey House in Wickepin.
