Foxes Lair December-March Highlights
As this is the hottest time of the year, we recommend that you visit in the earl morning when the temperature is coolest and the rising sun is shining through the trees and highlighting fresh new bark. It is also a good time to ride your bike on the bike trails or walk your dog. Be sure to keep dogs on a leash to stop them chasing wildlife and confronting snakes. • cyclist ride slowly as these trails are also for walkers.
It is a nice spot to have breakfast or take dinner and watch the sun go down. Kids particularly like the Claypit and the Arboretum picnic area (climbing rock, bush cubby and tree swing)
Good daytime summer spots are those with water, such as Railway Dam and Yornaning Dam.
Rainbow bee eaters and Carnabys cockatoo are visiting and you always have a chance of spotting mother kangaroo and her joey.
Bobtail skinks and monitor lizards (also called racehorse goannas) come out as the day warms up. Snakes are rarely seen and are not a threat unless you go into the bush and disturb them.
There are always plants floweringing in Foxes Lair, but they can be hard to find in summer.
