Great bushwalking, wildflowers, birds and wildlife for experienced walkers
2 walk trails
No facilities or graded roads
No pets
this is a wonderful hiking, wildflower and bird watching place. The 8km road from Highbury to the reserve is gravel, and there are no facilities there. There a two excellent wildflower walks. The easy 1.5km Orchid Trail is located near the entrance, and a narrow road that may have ruts and overhanging vegetation leads to a lovely spot for a picnic and the start of the Sandplain Walk. The 2.5 km grade 3 walk is more of a challenge, but the occasional scramble over rock and breakaways is rewarded by uplifting views and interesting plants. There are no picnic areas, or other facilities, and camping is not permitted. Do not take pets as baits are laid in the reserve to protect the native wildlife from feral animals. For bushwalkers and mountain bikers who can experience the variation in the landscape and wildflowers via often rough fire access tracks.
