This week I present the particularly pulchritudinous Pimelea species or banjines. The only clue I could find for the name Banjine was in an English/Persian dictionary- Banjin=ecstasy, delight.
Foxes Lair has 2 Pimelia species.
You can see scattered plants of the small and lovely nodding yellow ‘Scented banjine’ (Pimelea sauveolans, have a sniff!) on the sand over clay flats in the north-east edge of the claypit.
White Banjine (Pimelea ciliata) starts flowering a bit later, and is very common on gravelly soil. Like the tassel grevillea, numbers exploded after the 2009 fire, and together they form a white carpet of flowers in September -early October.
